Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E)-initiated Inter Division Drill Competition - 2018 in order to inculcate interest in foot and weapon drills for officers and soldiers had its awarding ceremony of trophies to the winners and participants of the Drill competition on Saturday (29) at the SFHQ-E parade grounds amidst a large gathering, headed by Major General Aruna Jayasekera as the Chief Guest.
Platoons representing Divisions in the SFHQ-E participated in the competition. The colourful Drill Display that testified to the high standards of discipline among members of the Army took the center-stage of the programme as the first item on the day’s agenda.
The 22 Division, comprised of soldiers of the 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) was adjudged the 1st and the Best in the Drill Competition. The second place was won by the team of the 24 Division, represented by 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops while 12 Sri Lanka National Guard platoon of the 23 Division clinched the third place.
The climax of the day’s events was the presentation of trophies, medals and certificates to the Best teams and Best platoon leaders in respective drill platoons.
Lieutenant B.P.M Cooray of the SLSR of the 24 Division was awarded as the Best Platoon Commander while the Captain S.A.C.A Subhasinghe of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and Captain W.D.S.R Wijesinghe of the Sri Lanka National Guard received trophies and awards as the 2nd and 3rd Best Platoon Commanders, respectively.
