The Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E), Major General Rasika Fernando relinquished the office of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Sunday (31) to take over a new appointment in the Army Headquarters shortly.
Prior to the departure from the SFHQ-E in Welikanda, Major General Rasika Fernando made courtesy visits to under command Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area -East during 28-30 May.
The Commander, SF-E at first visited the 22 Division Headquarters on Thursday (28) and met Officers and ORS. On the following day, he made a visit to the Forward Maintenance Area (East) and the 24 Division HQ on Saturday (30). During the visits, Major General Rasika Fernando was warmly welcomed by all the General Officers Commanding and the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - East. He addressed the troops and appreciated their services rendered by all ranks during his office and motivated them to continue to offer their services effectively in future as well.
The brief formalities held at Security Force Headquarters-East today (31) in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout, accorded to the outgoing SF-E Commander by troops of the 6 Gajaba Regiment in keeping with military traditions, strictly adhering to health regulations given by the Ministry of Health due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The outgoing SF-E Commander delivering the farewell speech expressed his gratitude to all Officers and Other Ranks for the cooperation extended to him during his tenure. In keeping with traditions, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa, together with Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Brigadier Priyantha Weerasinghe presented a memento to the SF-E Commander in appreciation of his services to the SFHQ-E.
