East-Based Troops Listen to Lecture on ‘Media & Its Impact’

More than 40 Officers and 150 Other Ranks serving in Divisions, Brigades and other formations under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Wednesday (23) listened to an awareness lecture on the 'Importance of Media, Its Impact on the Organization & Society' during a full-day lecture session, held at the SFHQ-E auditorium at Welikanda.

Following an invitation, extended by Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Commander, Security Forces - East, Mr Sisira Wijesinghe, Army Media Adviser delivered lectures, covering a wide range of topical themes, such as ‘Media's Positive and Negative Impacts’, ‘Its Evolution’, ‘Social Media’, ‘Management of Media’, ‘Current Media Trends’, ‘Challenges’, ‘Basic Concepts of Mass Communication’, ‘Mass Media's Behaviour’, ‘Publicity Techniques’, ‘General Rules and Ethics’, ‘Development Journalism’, etc.

Lectures followed interactive question-answer sessions. Towards the end of the sessions, Brigadier G.W.L Mahinkanda, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-E presented a token of appreciation to the lecturer.
