East Based Troops Expand their Post-War Community Service Projects


Troops of 221, 222 and 233 Brigades under 22 and 23 Divisions of the Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E) conducted more community service projects continuing their post-war period responsibilities towards the nation.

6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops recently organized several ‘Sharamadana’ campaigns to clear the surroundings of Kuchchiweli Pichchamal Temple at Kuchchaweli, Girihaduseya Temple at Tiriyaya, Nilaweli Public Library at Kuchchaweli and Nawachcholei School Play Ground at Kuburupiddi.

Meanwhile, Troops of 2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) conducted ‘Sharamadana’ campaigns to clear the surroundings of Jumma mosque at Muththunagar, Bus Stand at Thillinagar and Selwanayagapuram Hindu College at Trincomalee on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (Oct 13, 14 and 16).

Troops of 27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) meanwhile distributed drinking water among families at Ilangathurei, Trincomalee on Tuesday and Thursday (Oct14 and 16). In the meantime, 22 VIR troops distributed drinking water among families at Somawathiya New Village, Trincomalee on Thursday (16).

9 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 3 SLNG troops meanwhile held a seminar for 426 students who are sitting for the G.C.E O/L Examination at Vakarei School on Saturday and Sunday (11 and 12).

On Thursday (16), troops of the 3 SLNG gave away school amenities among 333 students at to Panchchankarni Thirumagal School, Kadiraweli Wigneshwara School and Kaddamuruvilkulam GTM School in Vakarei with the financial assistance received from Mrs. Dammika Gunarathna at Presidential Secretariat, Colombo on Thursday (16).
