D.S Senanayake College OBA Marks Int’l Children’s Day in Jaffna

522 Brigade troops joined hands with members of the Old Boys’ Association of D.S Senanayake College, Colombo to celebrate World’s Children’s Day organizing a donation of school accessories to needy students in Saraswathi Vidyalaya, Atchuvely in Jaffna on Sunday (1).

During the event, students at Saraswathi Vidyalaya were awarded a stock of school stationeries, 60 litres of wall paint for colour washing, 10 electric fans, sports items, music instruments, 10 push cycles for selected students and 5 desktop computers to the value of Rs. 1.7 million. Old boys at D.S. Senanayaka College without forgetting teachers gifted them with a stock of essentials in separate gift boxes on the same occasion.

The distribution ceremony was graced by Major General Darshana Hettarachchi, Commander Security Forces, Jaffna as the Chief Guest. Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Mr. R.M Rathnayaka, Chairman, Old Boys’ Association, D. S. Senanayake College, Mr. N Shivaneshan, Director Education in Kopay, Mrs. Murugashothi, Principal Saraswathi Vidyalaya, Atchuvely, Members of Old Boys’ Association of D. S. Senanayaka College, Senior Military Officers, Police Officers, Teachers, Students and Soldiers also participated in the ceremony.

The event was coordinated by Major Sajith Mannapperuma, Civil Coordinating Officer, 522 Brigade under the supervision of 522 Brigade Commander.
