DPMMHS Educated the Army Personnel on Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases

An awareness lecture on Hydrophobia, Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Non-Communicable Diseases was delivered recently at the Colombo Army Hospital auditorium.

The lecture was arranged on the instructions of Brigadier A.V.T Wikramasekara, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services (DPMMHS).

A gathering of 350 officers representing all the Directorates, Security Force Headquarters, Divisions, Brigades and Battalions took part in the awareness programme.

Lecture assistance for the awareness programme was extended by the Hydrophobia Preventive Unit and the Campaign for eradication of Hydrophobia & Tuberculosis.

Meanwhile, an awareness programme on sexually-transmitted diseases (STD) was conducted at the Army Hospital, Colombo during February 14-16.

The three-day awareness continued on the instructions of Brigadier A.V.T Wikramasekara, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Service.

During the lecture, 30 Army woman soldiers and 10 sailors were educated on sexually-transmitted diseases (STD).

Similarly, a meeting to evaluate the projects and training series of the Army Public Health Inspectors (PHI) was held at the 3 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps auditorium. During this progress review meeting, future programmes to be launched in 2017 were also taken up for discussion.

Meanwhile, at the end of the training workshop, 42 PHIs participated in a training programme were given certificates by Brigadier A.V.T Wikramasekara, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services.
