Dogs Engaged in Different Humanitarian &;amp; Security Roles Stage Their Show in Kilinochchi


A five-day workshop for dog-handlers plus a spectacular show of the dogs serving the Army took place at the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), following an initiative taken by 611 Brigade Headquarters.  

353 dog handlers serving every corner of the SFHQ-KLN followed the workshop and the dog show got underway on Thursday (6) before a large gathering of all ranks, headed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN as the Chief Guest.

A total of 180 dogs, engaged in de-mining work, explosives and drug sniffing, guard duties, etc, joined together to showcase their talents during the event at SFHQ-KLN which brought entertainment for a couple of hours. 
 
Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army several months ago instructed senior officers to take special care of them and provide dog handlers and dogs all facilities possible since they are also rendering an invaluable service to the Army.
