Diverse ‘Deepavali’ Commemorations Take Place in Kilinochchi

Troops in Kilinochchi area with the intention of promoting goodwill among civilians contributed to the commemoration of Deepavali on Tuesday (6) launching several projects.

On the directions of Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Division, 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops under command to the 571 Brigade conducted Shramadana campaigns and tree planting drives in the Malayalapuram, Paththini Amman Kovil premises and surrounding areas on the Deepavali day.

Meanwhile, 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops under command to the 572 Brigade participated in separate offerings at Thottadi Amman Kovil and Kannei Amman Kovil respectively.

Similarly, 15 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops under command to the 573 Brigade attended a special Pooja in the Siththi Vinayagar Kovil. Meanwhile, 1 SLSR troops carried out a Shramadana in the Korankandu Hindu Kovil premises on account of the auspicious day, followed by a special Pooja.
