Disable War Heroes Receive Benefactions From MoD Seva Vanitha Unit

In appreciation of their noble sacrifice to liberate the motherland from the curse of terrorism, the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry of Defence provides financial assistance to disabled war heroes of the armed services and the Police.

A special function was organized by the Seva Vanitha Unit at the auditorium of the Ministry of Defence under the patronage of Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, the Chairperson of the MoD SVU for distribution of those monetary grants on Monday (22).

Accordingly, 25 disabled war heroes received Rs. 200,000 each from both the Seva Vanitha Fund and contributions made by Dr. Nalanee Jayasooriya, which would enable them to face new challenges in their lives with more confidence.

These beneficiaries were selected by respective Seva Vanitha Units of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Police.

Mrs Rajapaksa together with Chairpersons of Army, Navy, Air Force and Police Seva Vanitha Units, gave away the cheques among the War Heroes during the event.

Speaking at the event deputy chairperson of the MoD Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Indu Rathnayaka said these donations were given considering the appeals of the Seva Vanitha Units of the armed services and the Police, and further emphasized that these grants should be utilized only for the given purpose.

The MoD Seva Vanitha Unit shouldering the entire responsibility of serving war heroes of the armed services and the Police with financial constraints has so far succeeded in identifying the most needed war heroes and providing them with exactly what they needed in time.

Mrs Nelum Gunathilake, chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, chairperson of SLA Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Malathi Samarasinghe, chairperson of SLN Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Asha Balasooriya, chairperson of the Police Seva Vanitha Unit and all directors of welfare from the armed services and the Police participated in the event.
