Directorate of Pay &;amp; Records Conducts Mobile Service to Solve Army Pension Issues

DIRECTORATE of Pay and Records of the Army, under the guidance of the Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and the Director General of Financial Management Major General H. L Weeratunga commenced a mobile service to solve difficulties faced by the Army pensioners who are unable to get their pensions due to various reasons and those planning to retire from the service during the year 2010. This mobile service that gave on the spot solutions was conducted at Gajaba Regimental Centre in Saliyapura, Anuradhapura on 26th and 27th November with the participation of Commanding Officers, Second in Commanders and subject clerks of all regular and volunteer battalions of Gajaba Regiment.
 
Representatives from the Directorate of Legal Services, Directorate of Personnel Administration and Directorate of Military Intelligence also participated in addition to the staff of the Directorate of Pay and Records to expedite the process.

Out of about 126 officers and other ranks who had pending cases, clearance was issued for 45 of them during those 2 days and clearance for the others are to be given within a week as agreed by the unit representatives.

It was the third mobile service conducted. Two other mobile services were previously conducted at Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Engineers Regimental Centre. The fourth mobile service is scheduled to be conducted at Armored Corps Regimental Centre at Rock House, Modera on 3rd and 4th of December.
