Defence Services Weight Lifters Compete for Finals

Defence Services Weight-lifting Tournament (men and women) - 2012 took place recently at Kelaniya University Indoor Stadium.

Co-championships were won by Air Force and Navy sportsmen while the Army secured the runners-up slot. In the women’s category too, the Army team was placed third and several Army personnel secured gold, silver and bronze medals in kg 56,62,69,77,94,105, 105 + categories. Similarly, a silver and a bronze medal were won by two Army woman weight-lifters under kg 69 and 58 categories.

Corporal G.S.S.G Wijesuriya of Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps (SLAGSC) was adjudged the Best weight-lifter in the tournament.
