Cricket Tournament, Meant to Promote Spirits of Harmony Held in Muttur

A Cricket Tournament at Kinniya Public Grounds on Saturday (28) aimed at strengthening spirits of harmony and reconciliation among different ethnicities drew to a close amidst a large gathering of cricket fans.

A total of 39 Sports Clubs in Muttur area participated in the tournament, organized under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara with the support of 224 Brigade Commander, Colonel P Ediriweera.

After a tight encounter in the final rounds, Kinniya Sports Club emerged victorious. Kinniya Sports Club and Muthur Sports Club vied for supremacy in the finals.

Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, as the Chief Guest awarded trophies to the winners. A group of religious dignitaries and civil society representatives in the area watched the final event.
