Cornered Tigers Meet with Their Doom; Forty-five Dead Tigers &; 79 T-56 Weapons Collected

MULLAITTIVU: TIGER terrorists, now cornered further into the northern most PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU belly area and ANALANKULAM received another heavy beating Friday (3) afternoon and suffered losing more than 40 of their front-line cadres.

     58 Division troops resisting Tiger onslaught fought valiantly during pitched battles and got rid of more than 40 Tigers. At the time this report was filed, troops have collected 40 dead Tigers, sixty T-56 weapons, four Rocket Propeller Guns, two I-com sets, ten claymore mines, 60 mortars, fifteen anti personnel mines, twenty-eight packs and several LTTE uniforms.

     Similarly, 53 Division troops made another significant contribution to the last bit of the battle by felling five more Tigers in the same northern PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area this afternoon (3).

     Later on, all five dead bodies of the Tigers, nineteen T-56 weapons, seven hand grenades, four I-com sets, one Rocket Propeller Gun, seventeen improvised explosive devices (IED), four flak jackets, nine Arul bombs, 554 rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition, one light machine gun and several cyanide capsules.
