The Centre for Army Vocational Training (CAVT) at Kalaoya, Saliyawewa in a symbolic recognition of commitment and appreciation awarded ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) certificates to 116 more Army personnel who actively contributed to the construction of new houses for the displaced in the Jaffna peninsula during a simple ceremony at Dambulla A.Y.S Gnanam Construction Training Academy on Thursday (24).
The new gesture of recognition got underway for the first time on a concept of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake after he instructed the CAVT to make arrangements to recognize their vocational skills through a government agency as a special tribute to their commitment.
The ceremony at the Dambulla, A.Y.S Gnanam Construction Training Academy for distribution of those RPL certificates took place, headed by Major General K.M Udayantha Wijerathne (Retd), Administrative Director, Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC as the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Brigadier Randula Hathnagoda, Commandant, CAVT, K.G Mauli Gunarathne, Coordination Officer, A.Y.S Gnanam Construction Training Academy, Senior Army Officers, Messrs R.G Arnolis, H.M Jayathissa Bandara, H.G.K.N Bandara, Janaka Sarath Ranaraja, N.C.P Ellepola and several invitees, representative officials at the A.Y.S Gnanam Construction Training Academy attended the certificate awarding ceremony.
