'Commando Challenges' Motor Rally Set to Start Off

The ‘Commando Challenges 2016’, the annual pride of the Commando Regiment that depicts motor rally skills of the Commandos will kick off from Battaramulla on 2 October and end up at Kudaoya Commando Regiment Training School on 9 October, covering Ulhitiyawa and Arugambay areas, a Press briefing at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksha Theatre on the conduct of the event, was told Tuesday (13) afternoon.

The press conference was attended by Brigadier Ralph Nugera, Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment (CR), Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne, Director Media, Brigadier H.H.A.S.P.K Senaratne, Director Training, Brigadier B.P.S De Silva, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ (MLT), Colonel D.M.U.G Bandara, Brigade Commander, Commando Brigade, Colonel R.P.D.U Rajapaksha, Centre Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) P.R.S Jayasekara, Brandix Lanka (Pvt) Ltd,  Mr Nishantha Wasalatantri, President, Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), Mr Ravi Dadlani, Vice President (Sales and Marketing), CEAT and Mr Hans Ralf Karpinsky, Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR).

The motor rally will be held under two phases. The first phase will start from Battaramulla and end-up in Kandy. Afterwards it will proceed to Ulhitiya reservoir area before it reaches Arugambay. At the second phase, it will proceed to Uva Kudaoya from Arugambay where the final gathering would take place on 9 October.

In the previous years, ‘Commando Challenges - 2016’ was a success and generated necessary funds for the welfare of Commando Regiment officers and soldiers.
