Commander Visiting 55 Division Troops Warmly Welcomed


Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya,  currently in Jaffna in connection with the ongoing  ‘Army Searchlight Tattoo’ Saturday (24) morning , took time off to meet and extend New Year greetings to troops at 55 Division Headquarters in Vettalakerni under the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J).
 
The Commander on arrival at the Headquarters was warmly received by Brigadier J. R Kulathunge, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, according a Guard Turnout in keeping with military traditions.  Extending New Year greetings to both soldiers and members of their families, the visiting Commander addressed the troops serving there and expressed his satisfaction over the marked recent improvement of discipline among troops.
 
“All measures should be adopted to maintain the high level of discipline at all times. Most recent reports speak of a positive trend and a marked improvement in instances of discipline on the whole,” he remarked. Lt Gen Jayasuriya before his departure from the venue shared a couple of views with the troops during refreshments.
 
The visiting Commander was afterwards invited to plant a tree sapling in the premises as a token of memory of his visit to this 55 Division Headquarters.
