Commander Stimulates Army Athlete Offering Expenses for His Participation in ‘Asian Games’

Lance Corporal B. Nalinda Kumara of 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who made the Army proud at national level in several previous wrestling events, has now been qualified by Sri Lanka Athletic Association to represent Sri Lanka at forthcoming Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army extending his best wishes and greetings to the athlete on his rare selection for participation, presented a cash gift of Rs 155,000/= for use of his passage to Thailand and other requirements after inviting him to the office of the Commander at the Army Headquarters on Monday (8).

Lance Corporal B. Nalinda Kumara will vie for supremacy in the wrestling (86 kg weight class) in the Asian Games, scheduled to be held in April this year.    

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Wrestling Committee was also present at the occasion.
