Commander Speaks to Sri Lankan Contingent Serving Lebanon After Opening New Shrine

The visiting Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, now in Lebanon inspecting Sri Lankan troops, engaged in force protection duties at UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) had the rare blessing of opening the first-ever Buddhist Shrine (Budu Medura) at SRI Base (Sri Lankan Base) for observance of Buddhist rites among troops.

The Commander after making the first offering to the shrine at Sri Base in UNIFIL declared open the new Buddha Shrine since the UN recognizes the right to practise all religious beliefs of all individuals of its member states and facilitates such moves anywhere in the world where the UN is serving.
