Commander Pays Homage to Sri Daladha Maligawa & Malwatte - Asgiriya Prelates

Committing to the age-old tradition of paying obeisance to the highest seats of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, the new Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake went to ‘Sri Daladha Maligawa’ (Temple of tooth) in Kandy this morning (4) and received blessings of both Malwatte and Asgiriya Maha Nayake Theros (chief prelates) after visiting Malwatte and Asgiriya Vihara premises.

At the entrance to the ‘Sri Daladha Maligawa’ the Diyawadana Nileme, Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara offered a tray of flowers to the Commander of the Army and welcomed him.

This visit of the new Commander of the Army to Kandy was the first one after he took office as the 22nd Commander of the Army.

During his first interaction with the Malwatte prelate, Most Venerable Tibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Maha Nayake Thero, the Commander exchanged a few thoughts with the religious dignitary.

Later on, he paid obeisance to the Asgiriya prelate, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero who also invoked blessings on the Commander and the Army in general.

During his stay in Kandy the visiting Commander also paid a courtesy call on the Most Venerable Dibulkande Wimalananda Anu Nayake Thero, Malwatte Chapter.

On all three occasions, the Commander offered ‘Atapirikara’ and fruits basket as symbols of venerations to those prelates.
