Commander Opens the New SFHQ Mullaittivu

AS SERENITY is fast taking root, the law and order machinery is simultaneously shaping up in the Mullaittivu district while restoring full normalcy, freedom, democracy and more significantly, the peace and harmony among Mullaittivu people, badly battered for over three decades due to LTTE terrorism inside the so called former “heartland of LTTE’s de-facto regime”.

The ceremonial opening of the newly established Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) complex Tuesday (8) morning by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya further cemented the notion that security in the Mullaittivu sector would not remain an issue any longer since Police personnel in Mullaittivu are now able to well coordinate all security administrative matters with this new Headquarters.

Commander was welcomed on arrival by Major General Nandana Udawatta, Commander Security Forces, Mullaittivu and conducted him to receive the Guard Turnout plus the Guard of Honour accorded in his honour.

A few minutes later Lieutenant General Jayasuriya declared open the newly constructed SFHQ-(MLT) office complex, built by Army Engineers. The new SFHQ complex accommodates operation rooms, a conference hall, office rooms for staff officers plus a new parade ground, adjacent to the main building.

Holding the inaugural meeting with General Officers Commanding and senior representative officers, Lieutenant General Jayasuriya received security updates on respective areas from those officers and gave them necessary instructions.

Further, Commander thanked the officers for the contributions made by the Army for the success of the government’s Uthuru Wasanthaya programme and also the steps taken so far to improve the security in those areas.
