Commander Greets Eight Senior Officers Promoted to Ranks of Major General

President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has confirmed overdue promoted ranks of Major General for three senior Brigadiers and the promotion of five more Brigadiers to the temporary ranks of Major General, effective from 30 December 2014.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army extended his best wishes and congratulations to all those senior officers this morning (16) after meeting them at the Commander’s Office where he briefed them on their future roles for the benefit of the organization.

Senior officers, Brigadier K.W Edema, Brigadier M.H.P Mihindukulasuriya, Brigadier A.K.P Wickremasinghe, have accordingly been given confirmation to their ranks of Major General, effective from 15 September 2011, 1 October 2012 and 24 May 2013 respectively.

Similarly, Brigadier J.R Kulatunga, Brigadier D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi, Brigadier M.K.D Perera, Brigadier D.S.N.K Senadeera and Brigadier P.M.R Bandara have been promoted to the ranks of temporary Major General with effect from 30 December 2014.

Commander of the Army accordingly has permitted above senior officers to wear their new ranks pending publication in the gazette, states a communiqué, issued by the Military Secretariat at the Army Headquarters.
