Attaching a greater degree of sentimental value once again to their heroic sacrifices at the expense of their legs and limbs during the fight against terrorism, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army after inviting a set of recently-promoted Major Generals to his office at the Army Headquarters, on Saturday (1) morning extended his best wishes to them.
Major General D.J.I.P Gamage of Gajaba Regiment (GR), currently serving as Director Assets Management, Major General H.R Wickramasinghe of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment serving as the Director Management and Maintenance at Colombo Army Hospital, Major General J.R Ampemohotti of Sri Lanka Light Infantry currently, attached to SLLI Regimental Headquarters who earlier served as Director Human Rights & Humanitarian Law, and Major General W.H.M Manatunga of Gemunu Watch, Commandant Designate Ranaviru Resource Centre fearlessly resisted terrorism during early 2000s and turned differently able.
The newly-appointed Major General D.A.P.N Dematanpitiya of Sri Lanka Signal Corps was one among those temporary Major Generals who called on the Commander of the Army this morning (1) to receive his blessings. All five of them were accompanied to the Commander’s office by Major General Devinda Perera, Director, Directorate of Personnel Administration of the Army.
On the recommendations of the Commander of the Army, HE the President Maithripala Sirisena as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on 27 August 2018 promoted those five Officers.
All those four above-mentioned Senior Officers while serving as Infantrymen sustained injuries in combat, having played notable and invaluable roles against LTTE terrorists during the Humanitarian Operations and were under rehabilitation and recuperation at the time they were recommended for the next promotion.
The Commander, having congratulated them and extended his best wishes requested those newly-promoted Officers to determine to further enhance their contribution to the organization and help him to make the organization better and better.
