Commander Congratulates Civil Employee on His Exam Achievement

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army on Thursday (29) afternoon extended his congratulations and best wishes on the Army Civil Employee, Mr. B.A.S.P. Abeywardana who secured the island’s first place in the recent ‘Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment of Minor Employees of the Public Service to Grade III of Public Management Assistants Service’ after inviting him to the Army Headquarters.  

While continuing to serve the Security Force Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) as a chef of the Army’s Directorate of Civil Administration (DCA), led by its Director Mr Gamini Mahagamage, the civil achiever, Mr Abeywardana in Anuradhapura has managed to sit the above examination in the state administrative service, following the facilitation made available by the DCA.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva during the formal meet today (29) at his office exchanged a few thoughts with him and made inquiries about his family and parents, both of who had earlier served the Army as civil employees before their retirement. Appreciative of his achievement in the examination, the Commander presented him with a cash gift at the same occasion and wished him further success and luck in his future endeavours.    

He has beaten 5710 candidates in the above said examination and managed to score the highest aggregate marks to win the first place. His late father, himself a civil employee has served the Army for more than 25 years and retired as a permanent employee before his death. His mother, Mrs J.A Kusumawathi who had also served as a permanent employee in the Army is now retired and living with him in Anuradhapura.

A father of two children, Mr. B.A.S.P Abeywardene of Anuradhapura who had sat the G.C.E A/L examination before joining the Army for its Directorate of Civil Administration in 2004 is currently working as a chef at the Security Force Headquarters- Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) and resident in Anuradhapura with his wife and two children, aged 12 and 7 years.   

Mr Gamini Mahagamage, Director, Civil Administration was also associated during the meeting with the Commander.
