Commander Assists Welfare Projects of Ex-Servicemen

With the objective of further promoting welfare benefits to retired tri-service personnel in the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA), the Sri Lanka Army on the directions of the Commander of the Army, donated a financial grant of Rs 8 m to the SLESA’s welfare projects by the Adjutant General Branch.

On behalf of the Commander of the Army, the Adjutant General, Major General Shavendra Silva handed over the cheque to this effect to Brigadier (Retd) K.A Gnanaweera, President, SLESA after inviting the latter to the office of the Adjutant General on Monday (3).

The donation follows a discussion the SLESA has had recently with the Commander of the Army, during which issues pertaining to medical needs, requirements of their family members and children of those retirees were taken up, seeking assistance to carry out those obligations.
