Commander Among Delegates in PACC Sessions in Seoul

Top Army officers from Indo-Asia-Pacific region, including the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, now in Seoul, are attending the four-day Pacific Army Chiefs’ Conference (PACC), themed ‘Unity of Effort: Building Civil-Military Partnerships in Land Force Response to Non-Traditional Security Threats’.

The biennial PACC inaugurated on Monday (18) has brought together Army Chiefs and Senior Commanders from 29 nations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region and is co-hosted by South Korea’s Chief of Army Staff General Kim Yong-woo and his American counterpart Mark A. Milley.

Former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon delivered the keynote speech in the first day’s inaugural session on Monday (18). Among the participants in the deliberations are General Vincent K. Brooks, Commander of the US Forces Korea, Mr Choi Young-jin, South Korea's former Ambassador to the US and Michael O'Hanlon, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.

On the sidelines of the main sessions, South Korea will also host the Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) at the same venue during September 18 - 21. This is the 10th PACC sessions in South Korea.
