Commander After Assumption of Duties Makes His First Formal Visit to Mullaittivu

Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Friday (01) accorded a red carpet welcome to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake who was making his first formal visit there upon assumption of his office.

In conformity with military formalities, a Guard Turnout plus a salutary Guard of Honour presented by the troops of 14 and 24 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment greeted the day’s Chief Guest, soon after Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake arrived at the SFHQ-MLT main entrance.

The visiting Commander was warmly welcomed by Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) soon after he arrived there.

Adding memories and significance to the Army Commander’s arrival at the SFHQ-MLT, All Officers and Other Ranks a few minutes later posed for a group photo with the Army Chief before he was invited to plant a sapling in the premises.

Afterwards, he addressed the troops gathered at the SFHQ-MLT and underlined the importance of discipline at all levels as Army personnel, dedicated to the national security. He also pointed out the need to maintain excellent relations with civilians in respective areas and launch projects that would help promote ethnic harmony, understanding and reconciliation.

Just after the troop address, he enjoyed refreshments with All Ranks in the premises.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake also received a briefing on the roles and tasks of the SFHQ-MLT and a comprehensive account of the ongoing development and reconstruction projects, being assisted by the troops in the area. All General Officers Commanding and Brigade Commanders under the SFHQ-MLT were present during the formal briefing.

Sticking to the day’s itinerary, the Commander later on visited the relocated office of the Forward Maintenance Area – Mullaittivu (FMA-MLT). There, the Commander was welcomed by Brigadier Channa Atipola, Commander, FMA-MLT and listened to a briefing.

Towards the end of the day’s proceedings, the Commander placed his signature in the Visitors’ book and left some thoughts. Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF-MLT presented a memento to the visiting Commander before his departure from the SFHQ-MLT premises.
