Colombo Sleuths Uncover LTTE Satellite Antenna

MANNAR: A five - member team of sleuths from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on Monday (04) rushed to MANNAR and detected a powerful satellite antenna that had been kept buried in fertilizer bags to be sent to Tiger terrorists in the north. 

Investigators on information given by an informant uncovered dismantled accessories and spares of this most modern satellite antenna from ERUKKULAMPIDDI area in the presence of the Police when they had been kept neatly buried in five large fertilizer bags. 

Forty-four pieces of 2 ft long accessories, thirty-six satellite plates and different types of spares, nails, metal poles, six-inch long metal plates, wings and iron bars that go with this antenna remained buried three feet deep when the Police uncovered the stock. Investigations are in progress to find why the LTTE has got down this sophisticated unit which could cost some millions.
