Colombo Army Hospital & Kilinochchi Troops Celebrate X'Mas in Separate Grand Events

Officers and Other Ranks serving the Colombo Army Hospital organized Christmas Carols, together with Rev Fr Chandana Perera and the Choirs of St' Theresa's church, Thimbirigasyaya on the eve of Christmas on Tuesday (18).

The Christmas message on the occasion was read out by Rev Father Chandana Perera to the patients and all staff members attending the event where Carols were sung inside Paediatric and Ex-Servicemen's wards giving more importance. Santa Claus adding glee to the occasion distributed gifts among the inmates.

Major General Sanjeev Munasinghe, Director General Army Health Services, Brigadier P.A.C Fernando, Director Army Hospital, together with officers and Other Ranks joined the arrangement.

Meanwhile, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, together with the 57 Division troops staged a Christmas Carols service with the objective of promoting religious reconciliation among all communities in the Kilinochchi area on Thursday (20) at the ‘Nelumpiyasa’ auditorium under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Ralf Nugera and with close coordination of Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding - 57 Division.

Rt Rev. Dr. Nobert Andradi, the Bishop of Anuradhapura gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour and the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest. Bishop read the Christmas message highlighting the importance and true meaning of Christmas to the audience. Rev. Fr. Daniel Murthi of Anglican Church preached the Gospel in Tamil and Rev. Fr. Vigneshwaran of Baptist Church Bharathipuram preached the Gospel in Sinhala. Christmas Carols team of the South Indian Church presented a welcome dance.

Adding festive atmosphere to the occasion, the Christmas Carols sang in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages as a symbol of peace and harmony. Together with several choirs including the Army choir, dancing team and brass band from the Directorate of Army band and performing arts, choir of the Security Forces in Kilinochchi, most celebrated melodies were sung as praise and appreciation of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Chorale of Paranthan, Methodist Church, choir of Baptist Church - Barathipuram, Chorale of the Church of South India at St Paul's Church -Murukkandi, Choir of the Anglican Church - Kilinochchi, Choir of the St Theresa Church Kilinochchi, added their vocal chords to add melody and rhythmic variation to the occasion.

Finally, symbolizing peaceful Christmas Carols evening in the Security Force Kilinochchi area, all the choirs gathered as a one team named, ‘Harmony’ and presented a combined chorale the ‘Feliz Navidad’.
