TROOPS of the 5th Artillery Regiment that comes under 522 Brigade in Jaffna distributed five hundred parcels of soap, powder, towels and tooth paste, etc among civilians in Ramavil welfare camp in Jaffna recently. Those items were collected by the officers and soldiers of the 5th Artillery Regiment.
Brigade Commander 522 Brigade Colonel D.M.S.B Bandara and several other officers and soldiers were associated with the occasion.
In the meantime, officers and soldiers of the 9th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment collected a stock of soap, powder, towels, tooth paste, etc and packed them into 550 gifts parcels.
Those parcels were distributed among the residents in Mirusuvil welfare centre on recently with the participation of officers and soldiers of the Battalion.
Meanwhile, 250 lunch packets were distributed among civilians in Vellvetithurai by the officers and soldiers of 3rd Battalion of Gemunu Watch on 29th July 2009 as tokens of their goodwill towards them.
