Civilians with CDKs Examined & Given Consultations

With the noble intention of contributing to the ongoing preventive programmes against the incidence of Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKDs) in the North Central Province, troops of the 62 Division on the instructions of Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni on Tuesday (6) launched a medical programme to educate the masses on prevention from CKD and its treatment process at Jayanthiwewa area.

Major (Rtd) Aruna Perera came forward to sponsor the project at the invitation of Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division.

Over 160 patients affected with CKDs and over 170 patients with other ailments were given consultations and treatment after subjecting them to medical check-ups during the arrangement. As a result, six civilians who were diagnosed with adverse effects were advised to receive treatment from the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, equipped with dialysis facilities.

The arrangement distributed medical drugs to the value of Rs 60,000 /= among patients. The medial team was comprised of medical officers, nurses and assistants of peripheral hospitals.
