Civil-Military Combined Teams Play Football

A civil-military combined football tournament as one more public relations exercise, meant to promote good relations between troops and civilians, got underway during September 15-17 following arrangements, made by the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).

The finals of the tournament got off at the 58 Division playground in Kilinochchi between Kilinochchi Samagi Team of the 57 Division and Poonakery Samagi Team of the 66 Division on Sunday (21) before a huge gathering of military and civil football fans.

The event coinciding with the ‘World Peace Day’ gave win to the Kilinochchi Samagi Team as champions after a close contest with its rival.

Mr J.Jaraline was selected as the Best Goal Keeper and Mr S.Sivalingam was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.

After the finals, a musical show, backed by the band of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police ran into late night with the participation of a big crowd of civilians and youngsters.

The closing event was attended by the Commander, Forward Maintenance Areas (KLN) as the Chief Guest.
