‘Harmony Soccer’ tournament, intended to promote goodwill and sports skills of civilians in the area was held between military and civil sports groups on Saturday (22) at Pravipachchan Ground, Kilinochchi. It was an initiative of the SFHQ-KLN.
Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General Amal Karunasekara, competing teams were comprised of civil personnel as civil-military combined teams.
After a close encounter, 57 Division’s combined team emerged as champions in the tournament scoring 4 goals against the 66 Division’s combined team.
Major General Sarath Weerawardana, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division attended as the Chief Guest during the closing occasion, together with the General Officer Commanding of 57 Division, Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe, and several senior officers.
A large gathering of civil and military personnel witnessed the Harmony Soccer Tournament with enthusiasm.
The Chief Guest and the other invitees gave away trophies and certificates to the winners and runner-up teams at the end of the tournament.
