AMBASSADOR for People's Republic of China H.E. Ms. Yang Xiuping called on Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Wednesday (2) afternoon in order to pay a courtesy call.
The visiting ambassador congratulated the Army Commander on his new appointment as the 19th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and recalled the challenging tasks he performed as the Security Forces Commander (Wanni) when the Wanni Humanitarian Operations were at their peak.
During the discussion the diplomat assured her country’s continued co-operation for the training of Army officers in China.
She also appreciated the role being played by the Army in relation to the speedy resettlement of IDPs, which set an example to other countries in the world.
