Children of Low-income Families Receive Scholarships

One more programme for distribution of scholarships among needy students in Kilinochchi was launched at ‘Nelum Piyasa’ auditorium on Friday (25) with the intention of uplifting educational standards of students in Kilinochchi.

The programme was organized on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi (SF-KLN), Major General Amal Karunasekara as one more phase of their ongoing arrangements of this nature.

Scholarships to the value of Rs 1 million were distributed among 277 children in 81 Kilinochchi schools during this ceremony on Friday (25).

It was held in coordination with the Department of Education Kilinochchi.

To this date, a total 2,782 such scholarships have been given away for children in the Kilinochchi Educational Zone.

Representing the Commander SF-KLN, Major General W.A.S Weerawardena, General Officer Commanding 65 Division participated as the chief guest in the occasion, together with Rev. Father Daniel Murthi, Brigadier H.D.W Kariyawasam Commander Forward Maintenance Area (Kilinochchi), Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe General Officer Commanding 57 Division , Brigadier R.M.P.J Rathnayaka, Brigadier General Staff Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi, many senior officers, Mr R. Wardeeshwaran – Additional Director Education Northern Province, Ms. Sudarshi Kapukotuwa–Assistant Director Education Northern Province, Mr. K. Murugavel - Zonal Director of Education Kilinochchi.
