Chief of Staff Inspects Standards of Mali Bound UN Combat Convoy Equipment

In order to ensure the quality and standards of all technical Combat Convoy Equipment (CCE), scheduled to be taken to the West African country, Mali for UN Peacekeeping assignments shortly, Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Chief of Staff of the Army on Friday (5) called at the Panagoda Army Cantonment and inspected them in the company of several Senior Officers.

Soon after his arrival, Director Operations, Brigadier Jayantha Gunarathna made a detailed presentation about equipment and accessories, bound for Mali to the Chief of Staff before he was invited to the inspection site.

Brigadier D.T Gamage, Director, Directorate of Plans received the visiting Chief of Staff on arrival and invited him to inspect Self Sustain Equipment, Combat Vehicle Equipment, De-mining and EODs (Explosive Ordnance Devices), Logistic and Medical Equipment on display at the venue.

A similar inspection was conducted earlier by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) on Thursday (4) in order to supervise their proper order. Such preliminary inspections before the troops leave for deployment are regarded as essential.

During Major General Senanayake’s stay there, respective officers in charge of equipment presented detailed accounts of equipment and other accessories, giving a glimpse of their operability.

Director General General Staff, Master General Ordnance, Quarter Master General, Chief Signal Officer, several Directors and Senior Officers were present during the inspection tour at Panagoda.
