Central Troops Mark Army Anniversary Planting Trees

A representative gathering of more than 250 soldiers serving the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) at Diyatalawa and the Volunteer Training School jointly marked the 68th Army anniversary on Tuesday (10) under the guidance of Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces – Central (SF-C).

Brigadier General Staff of the SFHQ-C representing the SF-C Commander and the Commandant at Volunteer Training School hoisted flags of both establishments separately and commenced the day’s programme. Recital of the Army song and reading of the Commander’s message then followed before a special tree-planting event got underway.

135 saplings of Jak, Kohomba, Mahogani and Kumbuk were planted in the 1 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps farm premises at Diyatalawa. Those troops joined a Bodhi Pooja at the SFHQ-C temple premises in the previous evening (9) in order to invoke blessings on the Army anniversary.
