Central Commander Relinquishes to Take Over New Appointment

A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by the troops at the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) at Diyatalawa this morning (22) bade farewell to Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces - Central (SF-Cen) who rendered a notable service.

In conformity with military traditions, upon his arrival at the SFHQ-Cen premises, he was received by Brigadier Rahula Weerawardena, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, SFHQ-Cen and conducted to review the Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honour, presented by 18 Gemunu Watch troops on his behalf.

Afterwards, the outgoing Commander addressed a representative gathering of SFHQ-Cen All Ranks and thanked them profusely for the support extended to him during his tenure at the SFHQ-Cen.

To signify the relinquishment of his office, the Central Commander left a couple of thoughts in the formal book at the office. After extending best wishes to All Ranks, Major General Rukmal Dias was given a street line good bye in the premises.

Earlier in the week, Major General Dias visited 11 and 12 Divisions and took leave of them during formal farewell ceremonies after extending best wishes.

General Officer Commanding 11 and 12 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, Other Rankers and Senior Officers of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) and Training Institutes in the area were present during the occasion. Major General Ruwan De Silva succeeds him as the new Commander, Security Forces - Central.
