CDS, Service Chiefs &;amp; IGP Review Victory Day Parade Rehearsals

Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-service Commanders, Inspector General of Police and Director General Civil Defence Force were on hand at Galle Face esplanade Tuesday (24) morning to review preparations and rehearsals, related to conduct of the National Victory Day parade, scheduled for May 27, 2011. 

National Victory Day parade that coincides with the National War Heroes month is dedicated to the memory of all War Heroes who tirelessly defended the territorial integrity and eliminated the ruthless terrorism that plagued this country for over 30 years.

The military parade, presented by troops of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and the Civil Defence Force, is held for the second successive year marking the second anniversary of the elimination of terrorism from this resplendent island-nation.
   
All military and security forces’ chiefs closely watched their respective segments in the rehearsing parade and discussed improvements needed to be further added. They also gave instructions for various other changes in the parade arrangements. Attention was also paid on the platforms that have been erected for the invitees as the event is expected to draw huge crowds.
