CDS, General Crisanthe De Silva Seen Off amid ‘Jaya Sri’ Greetings

Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) on Monday (21) bade farewell to one of its proud sons, General Crisanthe De Silva, who was formerly the Colonel Commandant, SLE, the Commander of the Army and currently, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) during a formal military ceremony at his own SLE Regimental Headquarters at the Army Cantonment, Panagoda on the eve of his retirement from active service.

The day’s programme kicked off after General Crisanthe De Silva who has rendered an exemplary service to both the organization and the country was greeted to a Guard Turnout after he was welcomed by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi on behalf of the SLE Colonel Commandant.

To mark the occasion, a floral wreath was laid by the visiting CDS at the SLE War Hero monument at SLE premises.

Afterwards, a Guard of Honour, presented by SLE troops saluted General Crisanthe De Silva at the parade grounds.

The charming but the dignified military parade was then reviewed by the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, accompanied by the Parade Commander in accordance with military traditions before he received the salute.

Before he joined for refreshments, he placed his signature in the VIP book. An All Rank tea table at the SLE Regimental premises culminated the day’s proceedings.

At the end of the day’s arrangements, the outgoing General was seen off by Officers and Other Ranks of the SLE in a street lining farewell as ‘Jaya Sri’ greetings rent the air.

A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s events.
