The 2nd phase of another community welfare project, spearheaded by the Centre for Army Vocational Training (CAVT) at Saliyawewa, covering the people in Rajanganaya Zone 8, got underway on Wednesday (5) at Kalawewa Gemunu Community Hall.
Following coordination done by the CAVT Commandant, Brigadier H.E.M.R.B.T Hathnagoda and Dr Nimal Weerakoon of Kandy Opticals (Pvt) Ltd, together with a team of medical staff, a mobile eye clinic at the above Community Hall was held where a total of 282 pairs of spectacles were distributed among under-privileged people suffering from vision impairments.
To symbolize the distribution, 30 pairs of eye spectacles were distributed during the brief ceremony before the complete distribution. This was the 2nd phase of the distribution of eye-spectacles, organized by the CAVT.
The inaugural occasion of the mobile eye clinic was attended by Administrative Officer at Rajanganaya Divisional Secretariat, Officer-In-Charge of Rajanganaya Police Station and Gramaseva Officials in respective village areas in Rajanganaya, Commandant CAVT, several Army officers and officials of the donor, Kandy Opticals (Pvt) Ltd.
