Cavalry Supercross To Kick Off

Sri Lanka Armoured Corps in collaboration with Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association is to proudly present Cavalry Supercross 2014 for the fifth consecutive year on 08 June 2014 at Army Track, Pangolla, Kurunegala, a Media gathering at Rock House was told.

The Cavalry Supercross is a major event in the annual National Motor Racing and Riding calendar. This is an event looked forward by leading racing drivers and racing riders locally and abroad. The track at the Ironside camp, Pangolla, Kurunegala offers the most daring challenges to the competitors and thereby the best entertainment to the spectators.  This year’s schedule will consist of 23 racing events it was told.

The Ironside Track is a spectacular racing track of the country due to the scenic beauty of the site. The track is sited on an embankment of the enchanting Deduru Oya with a backdrop of a magnificent hill range and the soothing greenery of rural Sri Lanka. This is another reason that enthusiastic spectators are awaiting this event apart from the enthralling motor sports experience.      
 
Sri Lanka Armoured Corps which consists of 6 Regular Regiments and 1 Volunteer Regiment is the senior most regiment of the Sri Lanka Army with a glorious history of fifty eight years of service to the motherland. The Corps has produced four Army Commanders including the present CDS. A large number of Armoured Corps members sacrificed their lives during the 30 years of war against terrorism and many others were injured in the battle field affecting the well being of their families. Cavalry Supercross is a noble attempt to raise funds to facilitate such gallant and to facilitate the wellbeing of service members of the Armour family. Cavalry Supercross is also aimed at uplifting motor sports in the country, which is currently one of the most popular sport events.
