Career Guidance Seminar for School Leavers Attract 828 Students from Jaffna

Expanding the Army-initiated community development roles further, 52 Division and 521 Brigade Headquarters recently launched a seminar on ‘Skill and Resource Development and Career Guiding’ for the benefit of school-leavers after sitting the G.C.E Advanced Level examination in August 2013.

The programme, meant to motivate those youngsters who would enter a new phase of their lives after completing state examinations, was supported by Vadamarachchi Zonal Education Office, CIMA, Sri Lanka and Capston (PVT) LED at the request of the Security Force Headquarters, Jaffna.

The whole seminar, lectured by eminent scholars like Prof C Velnambi,   Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Business Management, Mr S Mayuran of Capston (PVT) LED and a few others, focused on exploring possibilities for future employment opportunities after their examinations. It took place at Nelliadi Madya Maha Vidyalaya on Friday (15).

Arrangements selected 828 students from 16 schools in the area, along with 22 teachers. Zonal Education Director for Vadamarachchi Mr Nanda Kumar and Mr Mugundan were associated with the arrangement.  

The inauguration of the proogramme was witnessed by General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, 521 Brigade Commander, Commanding officers of 7th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 19th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
