Cardiac Patients Treated in Jaffna for Two Days

Two consultant cardiologists, Dr Richard Saldena and Dr Krishan de Silva of Nawaloka Hospital, Colombo, together with several medical officers and nurses attended on over 300 Jaffna civilians, suffering from cardiac ailments during two separate medical clinics, held at Urumpirai and Kolombuthurai areas, served by 511 Brigade and 512 Brigade in the Jaffna peninsula.

The initiative taken by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) took place during two days (March 29-30).

Army medical officers also supported the move and the project came in for praise since SFHQ-J has been always at the forefront of assisting such patients in the past couple of years.

During the tenure of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, former Commander, SFHQ-J, lives of 3 youngsters were rescued due to timely intervention of the SFHQ-J.

The youngsters Kajenthini (21), Santhush (3) and Apisha (3) received timely cardiac care and survived following personal intervention, made by the then Jaffna Commander after they were airlifted to Colombo with no time.
