HE David Mckinnon, High Commissioner of Canada in Sri Lanka, together with several envoys of the Canadian High Commission in Colombo paid a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters and met Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake on Tuesday (26).
A brief discussion that followed at the Commander’s Office touched on general matters of relevance to the responsibilities and roles of the military in the post-conflict era and efforts, being launched to improve notions of reconciliation and ethnic harmony with special focus on community-related projects.
Towards the end of the meeting Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake presented a memento to the Canadian High Commissioner. He left a few thoughts in the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s Secretariat before his exit from the premises.
Major General Ajith Wijesinghe, Military Secretary at the Army Headquarters welcomed the visiting delegation at the foyer to the Commander’s Secretariat.
Major General Mervyn Perera, Director General Overseas Operations at the Army Headquarters was also present during the cordial meeting.
