Newly commissioned 57 officers, who followed the Cadet Officer course Nos 55, 59, 60, 64 and 66 at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) on Saturday (29), accepted their diplomas from the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya who graced the glittering occasion as Chief Guest.
Those budding Officers who are now serving around the country at various formations had the rare chance of receiving their academic recognition from the Commander of the Army for the first time in their life at the ceremony before they enjoy a fellowship dinner with the visiting Army Chief later on the day.
Diploma recipients soon after the ceremony posed for a group photo with the Commander of the Army and shared refreshments together. Before his exit from Diyatalawa, the Commander ceremonially opened the fully-fledged new SLMA library at the complex which could accommodate several thousands of volumes.
