591Brigade of 59 Division under the Security Force Headquarters (Mullaittivu) organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival and a Mega Musical Show backed by the beat group ‘Munneswaram’, a group formed by rehabilitated ex-combatants, to entertain the villagers in the area as well as the soldiers serving 591 Brigade recently (11).
The programme, conducted with the objective of enhancing the mutual understanding, peace and harmony among the soldiers and the civilians, included both Sinhala and Tamil traditional games and cultural displays.
Meanwhile 593 Brigade conducted a similar Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival which also included a Mega Musial Show. Many renowned musicians backed by the Army Beat group entertained the gathering.
Major General L.B.R Mark, Security Force Commander (Mullaittivu) graced the occasion as the Chef Guest accompanied by Mullaittivu District Secretary Mr. N. Vedanayagam, senior officers and government officials of the area.
