Boyagane Ready for ‘Vijayabahu Supercross - 2016’

The annual motor racing event ‘Vijayabahu Supercross - 2016’, organized by the Sri Lanka Army Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) for the 14th consecutive year at VIR tracks in Boyagane will take place on 26 June with the participation of 100 competitors, including some foreign riders, so said Major General Kavinda Gunawardane, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR during a Media briefing at the BMICH on Tuesday (21).

Representatives of key sponsors, including the main sponsor, CEAT Kelani International Tyre (Pvt) Ltd attended the arrangement where the VIR Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Kavinda Gunawardane spelt out the details for conduct of such a mega event every year.

Funds generated through the event are used for welfare projects of the Vijabahu Infantry Regiment as well as the families of fallen War Heroes and differently able ones. A certain share of the income is also used for enhancement of welfare projects of serving Army personnel of the VIR, the briefing was told.

Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Director General General Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff also addressed the gathering and explained the racing plans and the track condition.

CEAT Kelani International Tyre (Pvt) Ltd, joins hands with ‘Vijayabahu Supercross - 2016’ as the Main Sponsor while Singer Sri Lanka, Browns & Company PLC and Elephant House also join the mammoth event as special sponsors.
