Bill Clinton Speaks to SRIBAT Commander in Haiti

Former US President and UN Special Envoy to Haiti Bill Clinton during a recent tour in the coastal city of Leogane, Haiti met the Commanding Officer in the Sri Lankan contingent (SRIBAT) and shared a couple of views on their roles and deployment in Haiti on 6th August 2010.

The SRIBAT contingent, now busy with pre-preparations, in relation to the forthcoming Haiti Presidential Election in November had several rounds of discussions with regional UN officials, Haiti National Police officials and United Nations Police on conduct of a violence-free Presidential Election on free and fair basis. SRIBAT Commanding Officer Colonel A.M.R Dharmasiri chaired these sessions.

On the sidelines of a groundbreaking ceremony for establishment of a Hurricane Centre for the public and supervision of a few more projects in the area, Mr Bill Clinton had time off to meet the SRIBAT Commander on the same day.
