BCGR Conducts Post-Rehabilitation Monitoring Meeting Ex-combatants


Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier Darshana Hettiarachchi of the Bureau of Commissioner General of Rehabilitation (BCGR) with the intention of post-rehabilitation monitoring the living status of re-integrated ex-combatants in the peninsula, visited 55 Division areas of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) during two days (Jun 12-13).

The tour undertaken with the approval of the SFHQ-J and at the request of 55 Division General Officer Commanding saw rehabilitated youths enlightened on the string of government’s welfare measures that have been so far effected for the benefit of them.

A Sri Lankan expatriate, Mr Rodd from Australia who was associated with this tour came forward to donate a large stock of school aids, caps and T-shirts, agricultural, fishing and self-help equipment and accessories, needed for them and their families to make a better living. Those donations to the value of Rs 2 lakhs were distributed among several families as well as those ex-combatants during the tour.

In addition, 8 sports clubs in the area were given 8 new footballs by the same donor, spending Rs 12,000/=.

Several interactions with those rehabilitated ex-combatants and their family members enabled the BCGR to evaluate future needs and other concerns of those families.
