Bangladesh’s NDC Team Pays a Courtesy Call on Commander

A delegation of course members from Bangladesh’s National Defence College (NDC) currently in Sri Lanka as part of their overseas studies in the curriculum in the South Asian region, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake this afternoon (14) at the Army Headquarters and received an update on current security concerns and Army roles and tasks.

The most senior members, Major General S.M Shafiuddin Ahmed (Team leader), Brigadier General Abu Taher Muhammad Ibrahim of the Senior NDC Directing Staff, Brigadier General Bayezid Sarwar and the Commodore S Aslam Parvez during the meeting with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake shared views on academic matters of concern to them in Sri Lanka and the future of academic programmes.

The team is made up of 21 members of the Bangladesh Army, 2 members of the Bangladesh Navy, 1 member of the Bangladesh Air Force, 5 members in the civil defence courses and an officer of the research and academic section of the NDC including a few foreign students.

Towards the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Senanayake presented both of them with mementos. The gesture was reciprocated.

Major General Priyantha Jayasundara, Military Secretary and Major General G.V Ravipriya, Director General Training were also associated with the meet at the Commander’s office.

A few minutes later, Brigadier Jayantha Gunaratne, Director Operations educated the visiting NDC students on Sri Lanka Army’s successful story against LTTE terrorists a few years ago and different security concerns in the country during a separate discussion that got underway at the auditorium in the Commander’s office complex.
